A complicated way to make a flower ...
Every Blossy flower starts with thousands of tiny glass beads, fine wire and quite a bit of patience.
We work predominantly with Japanese and Czech glass seed beads, including brands like Miyuki, Toho and Preciosa, chosen for their quality and their extraordinary range of colours and finishes.
Some are transparent and luminous, others opaque, matte, pearlescent or metallic. The same colour can look entirely different depending on its finish, and these small differences can change the character of a flower completely.
Whenever we can, we source our beads in Switzerland. But we also reach out to suppliers in other countries, searching until we find the exact shade, transparency or finish a piece calls for. While there are brands we return to again and again, we are not tied to a particular name. Sometimes finding the right bead simply means looking a little further.
Not every colour and finish behaves in the same way over time. Some are naturally more delicate than others, so we test the batches we use ourselves, including with water and soap, before choosing them for our flowers.
All our flowers are made entirely by hand. The beads are threaded onto fine wire and worked into petals, leaves and smaller details. Each part is created separately, shaped and adjusted before everything is brought together to form the finished flower.
Depending on its size and complexity, a single stem takes 1-3 hours to create. A bouquet brings many of these individually made elements together, which means an arrangement can take several days or, for particularly intricate pieces, several weeks to complete.
The process is slow and repetitive by nature: threading, looping, shaping and assembling until loose beads gradually take the form of a flower.
Making every element by hand means subtle variations are inevitable.
A petal may curve a little differently, a stem may lean in another direction or an arrangement may come together slightly differently from the one before it. We don't try to eliminate these differences. They are part of the character of each Blossy piece.
Fine wire forms the structure of every Blossy flower, which means the petals, leaves and stems can be gently shaped and adjusted by hand.
Your flowers may need a little reshaping after travelling in their packaging. They can also be adjusted over time, whether you want to open a bloom a little further, change the position of a stem or arrange your flowers in a different vase.
